Photographic Illusions

1. Cindy in a Bottle: 11-14-09, 5:30 pm; Rexburg, Idaho; f/8.0, 1/250s; Canon A520
2. Pool Problems: (photo-merge edit)
3. Pool Table: 11-14-09, 3:50 pm; Rexburg, Idaho; f/2.6, 1/8s; Canon A520
4. Cid at the Pool Table: 11-14-09, 3:45 pm; Rexburg, Idaho; f/2.6, 1/8s; Canon A520:

1. The optical illusion part of this shot is unedited, but I still did a few edits on the photo. I ran the rusty cage action on it, burned the edges, and cropped it.
2. This is my edit. I cut out the pool balls form shot three and moved them around in the air on shot four. I adjusted the size of the balls smaller and larger to change their depth of field, and I also tried to add a few shadows so it would look more realistic. Then I burned the edges of the photo.
3. This was just a shot of the table with the same lighting and camera position so that I could cut the balls from it.
4. This was the shot that I used with just Cindy, as you can see. I didn't tell her what I was going to do with the photo cause I wanted to surprise her, so I just told her to look dumbfounded. Actually, I lied. I actually used the word confused, not dumbfounded when I had her pose, but dumbfounded just sounded better written. Anyways, I've typed a lot, and if anybody reads this far, I'll be impressed.

  1. These are great! I love the one where the balls are floating and you can still see the shadow on the table. There is a nice balance of the finishing effects that Sis. Esplin went over with us! (borders, sharpening...)

The top bottle images looks great, she should fall through the hole perfectly! Great view.

  2. I love the effect that you added on the bottle picture. Its a cool effect and it may seem weird but it looks good with the garbage on the side. It turned out really nice.

I love the idea you had with the pool table. The balls are awesome. Great job!

  3. I like how your first shot turned out. I like how Cindy is jumping instead of just standing there (which is what you usually see) The effects that you have applied are cool and I would be interested in seeing what black and white would be like for this photo.

Anyway your second shot is by far my favorite! Well done! I didn't realize it was an edit at first and I was trying to figure out how you had done it until I read your description. Anyway, I think it turned out awesome especially with the facial expressions! Great Job.

  4. I think you did a great job this week. I like the first one, its lined up nicely and its fun that she is jumping. The only suggestion I have is I think if you used a background with different colors it would be easier to see the bottle and Cindy. But all the coloring is similar so they kind of blend in.

I love the pool table one. I think it was a creative idea and turned out really well. I would however, maybe put more shadows from the balls onto the table. Great work though!!!!
