Is cutout one word or two?

Here is my first attempt at a cut out. If you'll look closely, you'll see that I've cut out a flower. Now, if you look from far away, you will still see I've cut out a flower.

  1. Michael, your cutout is beautiful! I think you did a great job of keeping a dark edge around the flower so that it still pops from a white background even though the actual flower is white. If I were you, however, I most definitely would've clone-stamped out the fly in Photoshop... ;) Just kidding, nice work.

  2. Great cutout. You maintained the edge quality really well. I would have made the edges a little softer perhaps, but it depends on where you use it. I agree that the fly needs to go. It would be cool if the fly were a little bigger, darker and closer to the middle. Then the fly would be the subject and not the flower. Just a thought.

  3. Whatever you did around the edge looked really good. I liked the subject matter but it looked like there was a shadow or something cast over the whole thing. The fly was a nice touch - how'd you get him to stay still long enough to be photographed?
